Road Network Operations
Working on behalf of the World Road Association (PIARC), Ankerbold developed the content for an interactive web-site and knowledge centre on integrated road network operations and its component activities, intended for professionals working in ITS.
In this context “integrated” network operations means:
- a road transport network that has its geographical limits defined according to the users’ need and…
- that may be multi-modal, multi-jurisdictional, multi-national (local, regional, national authorities and concession-holders) and…
- using possibly different levels of infrastructure (rural, local or national roads hierarchy) and…
- that involves interaction and inter-agency cooperation on traffic management and traffic information.
The Network Operations website complements the PIARC Handbook on Intelligent Transport Systems, now in its second edition, which Ankerbold also played a large part in writing. It gives comprehensive coverage of integrated road network operations. The full text of the Network Operations Handbook is down-loadable from the web site.
